Caz Pringle-Bowden

I recently attended the Neurodiversity in Yoga workshop with Caz Pringle-Bowden at the Australian Yoga Academy in Prahran.

As a neurodivergent person my senses can be acute – lights, sounds, textures, touch can be a lot to process sometimes – and it can take me a few tricks and steps to move myself into, and remain in, a calming internal space.

Wearing earplugs, an eye mask, and my favourite, comfiest clothes, isn’t typically going to work in a yoga studio – but you may see me in class with my eyes closed!

Anyway, if you want to learn more about how different brains and bodies work and make it easier for people like me to relax in class, I’d highly recommend this workshop.

I recently flew from Perth to attend Caz’s neurodiversity training at AYA. I was excited to hear about this unique training as I had a personal interest in learning more about neurodiversity generally to better understand how our brains are all different and how that can impact our daily lives.

I had fairly limited knowledge of neurodiversity and wasn’t teaching yoga prior to the training so felt a tad nervous. However, Caz made the sessions super approachable and I found myself really enjoying them and learning a lot in such a short time (thankfully Caz also provided handouts and a google drive link with all the recordings/materials).

Caz brings such a positive, sincere and calm energy to every class which created a very welcoming and inclusive environment to share your own experiences if you felt called to (there was zero pressure).

Thank you again Caz (and Adele and Mel from AYA) for facilitating this incredibly educational and empowering training.

Understanding the role of neurodiversity in women’s health is an essential component to providing individualised care for patients. Caz’s approach to education was clear and comprehensive, I felt I left the training sessions with an excellent framework of how to incorporate neurodiversity concepts in my day to day consultations.

All patients, just like us, want to feel heard and understood by their health care providers. If you are interested in expanding your knowledge in this area, I highly recommend one of her courses – who knows, you might even learn something about yourself that will surprise you!
