Flip Shelton
Flip Shelton is an author, writer, broadcaster, muesli maker, garlic grower, cross fit fan, yoga teacher and student….and mum.
Flip has had three cookbooks published including ‘Green’, ‘Veg In’ and ‘Smart Snacks – 100 + quick and delicious snacks to survive the school years’, which she co-wrote with leading child psychologist, Michael Carr-Gregg. Along the way, she has written six children’s books.
Flip is a passionate foodie and has talked about food and fitness on radio and television for years; written articles for various newspapers and magazines; and has her own range of muesli (Flip Shelton’s natural muesli and porridges) which she started over 15 years ago when training for Ironman events. She wanted to create a delicious and nutritious range of products to satisfy her friend’s nutritional and energetic needs – some with very specific needs including those that needed to eat nut-free and gluten-free products. Flip and her husband grow artisan garlic in North Eastern Victoria.
Flip has also been actively involved in a number of volunteer roles at her son’s primary school including the Student Learning & Well-being Sub-committee; and the Tuckshop Working Group – both of which she was able to make positive changes. In addition, she taught cooking lessons at her son’s school.
Flip has been a keen yoga student for over two decades and recently completed the 350 Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training and 80 Hour Meditation Teacher Training at AYA. Flip has also completed a Mindful Breath and Movement for Children and Youth Workshop by Beata Heymann and a Nutritional Psychiatry Workshop run by the world leading Mood & Food Centre at Deakin University by Professor Felice Jacka.
