Claire
I’m Claire. At 53 it feels like I’m late to the party of yoga!
I grew up in a tiny village in Scotland, studied French at the University of Edinburgh and have had a 30+ year career in retail, inspired my dear Dad.
I met my Australian/Greek husband in London and we have lived in Melbourne since 2003. He has a light that shines bright.
Retail has given me a place to lead incredible teams of people and create my own business with my 2 dear friends – School of Retail. Always about creating exceptional experience for people.
My first experience of yoga was when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2013. Stella is my starlight. My 2 sisters are my best friends – family matters deeply to me.
In 2020 when everything felt pretty dark for the world, I started studying philosophy. I was searching for light. The search fascinates me, the stillness we find as the pendulum of life swings between dark and light. My practise of mantra meditation morning and night definitely helps light the way.
I walked up the stairs to AYA in 2022 seeking Phil. I
immediately felt like I was home. Smiles, warmth, light. 250 classes and counting – I am home.
I find great joy in creating things – our home, a garden, beads, paintings, outfits and now yoga classes. Classes that illuminate the body and mind.
So here I am. A qualified yoga teacher with my Advanced Diploma of Yoga from AYA under my arm. 350 hours of the most amazing practises ready to bring to life for the AYA community. A privilege I meet with all that I am.
My beautiful Mum called me Claire – it means light in French. I look forward to exploring the light with you.
